Welcome to Day One of your #SeptemberWhole30. In some ways, this group Whole30 with hundreds of thousands of people participating is exactly the same as any other Whole30 you might do alone or with a few friends.
Our rules and recommendations have not changed. You’ll still spend the next 30 days eating nothing but whole, nutrient dense-foods. You’ll stay connected to our community, gain resources and motivation from our social media channels, and cook delicious food from our books, meal planning tool, and online recipes.
And if our August survey of over 7,600 Whole30’ers is any indication, this month will change your life… as 88% (!) of our survey respondents said the Whole30 changed theirs.
But in one major way, the #SeptemberWhole30 is different. Because for the first time ever, I’m offering you specific support for life after the Whole30, in my new book Food Freedom Forever. “So what do you do after the Whole30?”
A common question I hear from Whole30’ers (and journalists, and Whole30 critics) is, “So, what happens after my Whole30 is over?” As often as I’ve explained that we’re not a diet and not a quick-fix (so there is no “rebound”), you deserved more. More of a concrete plan to maintain your new healthy habits. More helpful tips to navigate cravings, habits, and social challenges. Another radical mindset shift in how you think about food, your daily diet, and “balance,” the way the Whole30 rules, structure, and support changed your health, habits, and relationship with food.
Food Freedom Forever is my answer. I open the book with this preface:
The very phrase, “food freedom” was born from reading your post-Whole30 testimonials, in which you reported feeling happy, confident and in control of your food for the first time in a long time. You said it felt like freedom, the freedom to eat a cookie and not beat yourself up, to enjoy your vacation or holiday without starving yourself when you got home, to say no to something that used to hold power over you, but no longer does.
For all of the times you expressed frustration in finding balance after your Whole30. For all the times you told me you slipped and couldn’t regain your footing. For all the times you asked me to help. This book—a compilation of all the ways I’ve wanted to support you, my community, in your own personal journey to lifelong food freedom—is for you.
When I was talking to my Whole30 team about how to best introduce Food Freedom Forever to you, we knew rolling you straight from an official Whole30 to the Food Freedom plan was the way to go. First, because big Whole30s like this are fun for our team. We get to pull in special resources from our Whole30 Approved partners, favorite recipe creators, longtime Whole30 community contributors. September will feel like EVERYONE is doing the Whole30, and we can’t wait to see your photos, hear your stories, and share in your success.
But more important, we wanted to guide you through the most well-resourced, supported group Whole30 ever, and then keep that momentum going while everyone transitions into the 3-step plan from Food Freedom Forever.
