How many Whole30s have you done?*

Whether it’s your first or your fifth time through, the Whole30 can be a truly life-changing dietary self-experiment. As with many things, timing is everything. If you’re asking yourself when to do a Whole30, our new quiz will give you the answer.

When to start the Whole30 is a big decision! The program requires time and attention, and a 30-plus day commitment. You’re not alone if you’re wondering, “Is it time to do a Whole30?”

While there is never a perfect time, there are some factors that will work in your favor—and some that signal “now is not the time.”

Why you might want to start the Whole30

People start the Whole30 for a variety of reasons, but there are some strong commonalities. The top five non-scale victories reported by thousands of Whole30ers are:

  1. Reduced cravings
  2. Less bloating
  3. Improved energy
  4. Deeper sleep
  5. More self-confidence

Imagine what life would look like if you achieved these same results with your Whole30. The benefits of the program spill over into every area of your life. It’s about so much more than just food!

People also come to the Whole30 with the intention of changing their body composition, addressing a health condition, improving their mood, or eliminating brain fog.

While the Whole30 isn’t a weight loss diet or a medical treatment, the program can help support these goals! The Whole30 has helped millions of people identify the foods that may be contributing to inflammation, bloating, blood sugar dysregulation, and other symptoms. These results can be incredibly insightful, giving you the dietary tools you need to further all of your health goals. Your results can also assist your healthcare provider as they craft your comprehensive treatment plan.

When you might want to start the Whole30

If you’ve been struggling with energy, sleep, cravings, anxiety, allergies, migraines, hot flashes, or digestive issues, you might be thinking, “Should I do the Whole30 right now?” And yes, maybe you should! (Not right now, of course—we always suggest at least a few days for planning and prep.)

But there could be factors you haven’t thought about—timing issues that could make your Whole30 harder than it needs to be. In fact, there are some circumstances that could sabotage your Whole30 before it even begins!

The Whole30 is a big commitment. You’ll be reading labels, stocking your pantry, and learning how to plan your Whole30 meals. You may be cooking more than you ever have! You’ll also miss some of your favorite comfort foods, and will have to learn new ways to navigate stress. Selecting a good time to take on the Whole30 is crucial! Choosing the wrong start date can make the program even more challenging.

We don’t expect you to think of everything, especially if the Whole30 is new or it’s been a few years. That’s where our quiz comes in! We’ll walk you through all of the necessary considerations, step by step. At the end, we’ll give you our best recommendation about when to start your Whole30—or if now is not the time. (If that’s the case, we won’t leave you hanging! We’ll also tell you what we recommend instead.)
